February 2007

Together with a friend I am going to make a Robe a la Francaise. We're starting with the undergarments. First we're going to make the pockethoops and later the 18th century stay.

Pattern used for the pockethoops:

Butterick B4484 (pocket hoops pictured in right top)

Pattern for the robe (J.P. Ryan pattern):

Pattern pieces for the pockethoops are cut out. Marking the boning on the underside panels:

After months of doing other projects, we are going to start with this project again. First of four pockethoops is now finished.

Today we continued with the other pocket hoop. Here are the two pocket hoops finished, before attaching the waistband.

And here after attaching the waistband. You can really see the right period silhouette take shape:

We still have two more to make!

This is the fabric we are going to use for the robe:

We draped the fabric over the pockethoops to see how it's going to look:

We are really pleased with the pockethoops and how it all looks sofar. This robe is going to be beautiful!
