While browsing the internet I came across a website with lovely gothic (victorian inspired) clothing: Nightshade clothing. I also found an image of this ensemble which I really liked (yes, black & white stripes again. I confess, I am a stripe-a-holic):

Since it's no longer available on their website and I have about 10 meters of black&white striped cotton.....

.....and these patterns....

....I will make this one myself.
Cutting out the pattern-pieces for the underskirt:

The Burda-skirt consists of 3 layers. I am only going to use the bottom layer.
Cutting out the pattern pieces of the overskirt. Like the original the stripes will be horizontal on the overskirt.

Sewing the underskirt together is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you pin the right pieces together. This is the skirt inside out (unfortunately no picture of the right side out).
After sewing the waistband on disaster srtiked. My needle broke and part of it fell in the machine. Aaaarrgghhhh!! Now I can't continu. It makes al sort of loud noises, I am afraid to touch it. Tomorrow I will take it to the dealer.

Yeah, my sewing machine is fixed and I can continu with my project. Yesterday I put on the waistband of the underskirt. So besides the trimming, the underskirt is done.
Today I continued with the overskirt. Pleats on front:

Side parts, lined with black satin:

Back sashes, also lined with black satin:

Pleats in side parts:

Front and back sewn together:

I will continu with the overskirt tomorrow. First I have to buy the trimming and attach that to the overskirt, before I start on the waistband. I want to sew to the edges of the lace trims under the waistband.
So on to the final part of this ensemble: the shrug. I am going to make version E (the green one), but not with the scarf. I will use the mandarin-collar of one of the other versions. Also I don't like the puffed sleeve, so I will change that too. The sleeve on the blue one is not puffed, so I am placing this over the top of the sleeve of my original pattern.
Cutting out the pieces:

I also want to make the sleeve flare out instead of being straight. So first I cut the pattern out way too large:
And after folding them, adjusted the piece so it flared out:

Lots and lots of lace trimming added to the underskirt and overskirt.
This is the finished overskirt. I decided to turn the sashes so the black satin side is on the outside and the stripes are on the inside. This is a much better contrast. Otherwise it was just too stripey.

And the finished shrug:

And of course some pictures of me wearing it. I am wearing a small hoopskirt for more flare at the bottom.

More pictures can be found here. I think I wil make the overskirt (maybe only the front apron) one size smaller the next time. The pleats (in the side seam) on the front are not showing as much as I would like.
